From Our Club President
You Can Be Part of Dunwoody's End Polio Now Support

As a follow-up to Past RI Director Robert Hall's presentation last Friday, I wanted to share some history of Dunwoody's participation in the fight to End Polio Now - and invite you to join as you can in helping to eradicate polio in the world.

Since 1986, when Rotary International launched the Polio Plus Campaign, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody has donated more than $200,000. When Foundation Chair Bill Mulkey updated our giving stats for DG Kirk Driskell in September, we were #4 in District 6900 for all-time polio giving. In just the last three Rotary years, we have donated more than $82,000 to polio - from our members and the Dunwoody Charitable Fund.

As we all know, we are "this close" to eradicating polio in the world - an amazing gift to the children of the world. And that last bit requires perseverance and continued funding - for vaccines, continued monitoring and such. That's why we sent an email this week asking that each of us consider making a donation to End Polio Now. You can do so at endpolio.org/donate.

And be sure to check out the rest of this story! [more]

Service Opportunity
This Saturday, November 21 at the Mulkeys

One of our founding members, President Emeritus Bill Mulkey, is ill and can no longer work in his yard. This Saturday, November 21st, from 9:00 – 10:30 we will be raking, blowing, bagging outdoors for him.

If you can help, please let Jennie Stipick know (jstipick@att.net) and bring work gloves, leaf bags if you have them, and any tools you feel comfortable using to: 1267 Arbor Vista Dr. , NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 at 9:00 a.m.

Governor's Ball Update
Online Auction Adds to Charitable Fund

Thanks to Past President Rick Woods for identifying an online auction opportunity and single-handedly loading in the restaurant cards, paintings, wine and services that had been donated before the Governor's Ball fell victim to the pandemic last spring. And thanks to you for your donations and your bids on those items. The online auction raised $2,612 that will be added to our Charitable Fund.

If you were a successful bidder, you should have received an email.  Rick says, "We will begin the process of check collection and item delivery. Thank you for your participation and contribution to the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund (DRCF)."

Some of you have asked about the money collected from members for the 2020 Governor's Ball. We will be back to you with more on that topic in next week's bulletin.

Thank You!
Dunwoody Nature Center Saturday a Big Success

We had about 10 people as part of the Dunwoody team at the Dunwoody Nature Center's monthly event last Saturday - spreading mulch and helping with needed clean-up. Our crew included Rick Otness, Jennie Stipick, Carter Stout, Jennifer Bowler and Jud, President Ardy, Dunwoody Interactor and RYE alumnus Daniella (she's everywhere we are), and five "representatives" from Charlie Augello's family.

Our next Nature Center engagement is Saturday, December 12! Get your gloves and masks ready and join us!

Congratulations!
Former Dunwoody Rotarian Don Griffing to be District Governor in Wisconsin

Exciting news for Don and Marj Griffing - and for the Rotary Club of Dunwoody. Don has been selected by District 6270 in Wisconsin to be District Governor in 2023-24. Don got his official Rotary start here in Dunwoody, when he and wife Marj joined the club in 2007. Don is the second of our alumni slated to serve Rotary as District Governor. Laura Kann (Dunwoody President in 2011=12) will be District Governor of District 6420 in Illinois in 2022-23). The two had a Dunwoody reunion at their multi-district PETS in early 2020. Congratulations and best wishes to Don and Laura!
