JOIN IN THE FUN AND SERVICE
Three Opportunities from Friday - Monday: Student Essays, Arts, Golf

We are sending the bulletin a day early - with three simple points of focus:

  1. At Friday's meeting, you will be amazed at the quality of the Laws of Life essays from seven students who received Honorable Mention at Chamblee High School. Dunwoody has been a proud sponsor of this program for many years, with our own George Stewart leading our efforts. This year, we partnered with the North Atlanta Rotary Club to sponsor the contest at Chamblee. Join us at the normal time at Le Meridien.
  2. From Friday through Sunday, you have the opportunity to participate in the Dunwoody Arts Festival at Dunwoody Village - as a volunteer and/or an attendee at one of Georgia's largest arts festivals. Check with Kathy Brandt if you'd like to volunteer - she is in need of a couple of people to help with artists' set-up on. Saturday morning from 6 am to 9 am
  3. Monday is our FORE the Memories Golf Tournament at St. Marlo Country Club, 7755 St Marlo Country Club Parkway, Duluth, GA. See the article below for more information.

We hope to see each and every one of you sometime between Friday and Monday - and as many times as you can join in the fun and service opportunities!

FORE THE MEMORIES Golf Tournament - What You Can Expect Monday, May 15

St. Marlo’s crew will put out Hole Sponsor & Contributing Sponsor signs on various holes. Our volunteers will set up Event Sponsor signs near the Check-in area and move them to the lower hall area after play starts. Alzheimer’s will also have a table and possibility a tent.

FYI, if you are playing golf and ALSO volunteering, please first check-in, find your cart, hit range balls (if you want) and make sure to participate in the Putting Contest Qualifying Round starting at 10:00am.

The morning rush includes registration area set up for the Check-in and Ditty Bags sales tables at 8:00am with check-in opening at 9:00am. This area is also where golfers will receive their tournament hat from a volunteer. There will be coffee and donuts provided for volunteers.

Morning volunteers will put two sleeves of balls, two water bottles and two boxed lunches on each cart. Two volunteers will ride out to hole #3 to be $10,000 Hole-in-One witnesses and two volunteers will ride out to hole #5 with Kyle Blakley, our long ball hitter, who should arrive by 10:00am. Both holes should be staffed by 10:30am.

Dave Burr is managing the morning Putting Contest Qualifying Round and needs a volunteer to help him collect entry tickets for the putting contest; these tickets are purchased with the Ditty Bag (which includes the white putting contest entry ticket, two blue mulligan tickets and two yellow drink tickets). He will need four volunteers (not playing golf) with one filming a $5,000 putt attempt after play before the awards dinner.

Once the golfers depart to play at 11:00 am, volunteers will set up the auction area in the lower hall.I have not found a volunteer to be in charge of weather but we will play rain or shine unless there is thunder and/or lightning and the club makes the call to stop play.

Thanks everyone for your support!
