Join us this Friday at Embassy Suites to welcome Past District Governor Margie Kersey, and learn more about the power of The Rotary Foundation.

Margie Kersey joined Rotary as a charter member of the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey (then Clayton County Daybreak) on February 16, 1998, and served as President in 1999-2000. She joined the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain July 2006 and was President in 2016-17. She is now a member of the Rotary Satellite Club of Stone Mountain Passport where she serves as Treasurer. She is a Major Donor, Bequest Society member and is very honored to have been named District Rotarian of the Year in 2008 and as recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from The Rotary Foundation.

Margie served as District Governor in 2011-12 and District Rotary Foundation Chair for 2016-2019. She has also served as District Trainer for three Governors and as President of The CART Fund (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust). Fellowship and Fun
More About Sunday's Wine Fellowship; RSVP Now!

Past President Chris and Jane Gutschenritter have invited us to share the fall weather and a little wine at their home this Sunday, October 27 from 4-7 pm. For those attending Sunday:

  • Plan to bring a bottle of wine and/or an appetizer to share.
  • Address and parking information: 4512 Candler Lake East NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. Across the street from our house is a grassy area (with a no parking sign, to be ignored). Pull into that area perpendicular to the street. Those challenged with hiking up a driveway, pull into the driveway to drop off those so challenged and then turn around and park.

The Gutschenritters would like to have an idea of how many people are coming - the deadline for RSVPs is today, October 23. There are two ways to sign up:

  • You can use this link to RSVP on our website (note you have to be logged into the website to use this link)
  • You can contact President Louise at lbarden@comcast.net

Please RSVP today.

Tomorrow is World Polio Day

Every donation helps us obtain the support, transport, and materials needed in the fight against polio. Right now, all donations are matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, tripling your impact! Rotary has had a major impact on ending this disease - since we started our efforts in 1988, cases have been reduced by 99.9%. Learn more about our fight against polio and how you can help make a difference at Home | End Polio.

Whiskey Raffle Update
2024 Rotary Club of Dunwoody Whiskey Raffle is Live!

Help us raise money to support our work in the community! How? By sharing the link and the postcards for our annual Whiskey Raffle with your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and everyone else in the community - https://whiskey-raffle.com/. Raffle tickets are $25 each and we will only sell 400 tickets. On raffle night, we will pull six tickets from the raffle bin and award six prizes.

Each week we will highlight one of the prizes to be awarded. This week's highlighted prize is the American "OG" Whiskeys - The keen eye will notice that this prize package contains a bottle of Blanton's bourbon which was a single prize in the raffles from previous years. Thanks to Charlie Augello, Bob O'Brien, and Ken Levy for donating the bottles. Also included is a $100 gift certificate to Iron Hill Brewery. In case you're not familiar with the lingo - you can learn what"OG" means.

Thank You for Your Service
Dunwoody Serves at USO

Thursday October 17 was another very successful and pleasurable day serving our military personnel at the USO Hartsfield. Even though the day's military activity was very light we made the best of it. The people we did serve were very appreciative of our services and support.

To be noted, this is event was another example of the community supporting a Rotary Club of Dunwoody project. All food, condiments and accessory items were donated by E.48th Street Market, Northside Boar’s Head, Back Pack Buddies and the Rotary club members who baked cookies. The total donation amounted to $1632.95 (including the 25# of cookies). And Anchor Place participants made thank you cards distributed to each service member.

We will look forward to our next volunteer day spring of 2025. Thank you again for your participation and enthusiasm in supporting the USO.

Supporting FSHD Walk 'n Roll

Our small group of volunteers from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody enjoyed handling registration for the FSHD Walk n' Roll event last weekend and were honored to be able to present a donation check to the cause in finding a cure for this debilitating decease. https://give.fshdsociety.org/atlwalkroll

Bounds Gardens Thanks You ...

Volunteers at Bounds Gardens made quick work of the clean-up, in a flurry of activity that was outmatched only by the brisk voting activity across the way at the Dunwoody Library. Watch for Spruce-Tarian alerts in 2025! Thanks to all participating so far this year!
