This Week's Speakers
Help Us Celebrate Laws of Life

Join us at the Embassy Suites this Friday to hear inspiring words from this year's Laws of Life essay contest winners. Our own George Stewart has been a driving force in the Georgia Laws of Life program and will start us off with some words about the program. Then be ready for inspiration from some Dunwoody High School contest winners., who will be joined by the Dunwoody High principal.

Our club has been a long-time and enthusiastic Laws of Life sponsor, where high school students have an opportunity each year to write about a life event or person who has helped to shape them as individuals - each with a quote or phrase they select as their theme. We have provided prize money from our weekly raffle, served on the Board and judged essays since the program's start in Georgia.

You can download the 2024-25 Laws of Life Essay collection at www.georgialawsoflife.org - and while you are there, see how you can participate in the Georgia Laws of Life Honor Society.

Service Opportunity
Dunwoody Arts Festival This Weekend

This weekend, Dunwoody Village will be transformed into a vibrant artist’s market. And in Dunwoody Rotary tradition, we are helping with artist set-up on Friday night and the early hours of Saturday morning, and hosting a booth Saturday and unsay at the festival to tell our Rotary story.

  • If you signed up for artist set-up: Friday volunteers should arrive by 4:30 pm; Saturday morning volunteers by 5:30 am. Check in at the new Artist Check-In location tween the vet’s office and the Post Office in the Village. Much of the parking in the Village will be closed; park at Renasant Bank (1449 Dunwoody Village Parkway).
  • If you are helping at the Rotary booth: Show up for your assigned time slot on Saturday or Sunday.
  • If you didn’t sign up, still plan on visiting the Festival. And stop by the booth to say hi!

Golf Tournament Update
FORE! The Memories Tournament Almost Here!

On May 19, we hope to have 90-100 golfers teeing off in the fourth annual FORE! The Memories golf tournament at St. Marlo - in support of the Georgia Alzheimer’s Association “The Longest Day,” Anchor Place Respite Care, and our Rotary Club of Dunwoody Charitable Fund. We’re down to the details:

  • Sponsors who have a golfer benefit: Please send the names of your golfers (and their handicaps if you have them) to Rick Woods by this Friday, May 9, so we can continue setting up foursomes and building the gate list. If you are a sponsor and NOT playing golf, please try to fill your foursome, so we will have 90-100 golfers playing.
  • Want to attend the dinner and are not already at St. Marlo before dinner, please send your name to Alison Norris for the gate list. She is also managing the volunteer gate list.
  • Auction: We have many items in the auction but please contact Neal MacDonald if you have committed items or want to help.
  • Publicity: Shout out to Mark Galvin who has created and distributed a very well done press release to local media like the Dunwoody Crier and The Dunwoody & Sandy Springs Reporter. We hope to see some coverage for the tournament this week!
  • Questions: For anything related to the golf tournament, call me at 770-335-2829 or send an email to me at obrieninsuranceagencyllc@outlook.com.
