From Iran to the US: Marziyeh Amirizadeh to speak

Marziyeh Amirizadeh - or Marzi - is an Iranian immigrant who was born just a few months before the 1979 Iranian Revolution toppled the Shah of Iran and swept a radical Islamic regime into power. More than twenty years ago, through the grace of God, Marzi became a Christian despite growing up under the authoritarian, socialistic, Islamic regime where children were indoctrinated by the government. After becoming a Christian, Marzi shared her Christian faith with fellow Iranians by distributing thousands of bibles and by participating in the underground Iranian church. In 2009, she was arrested in Tehran for promoting Christianity and was thrown into the notorious Evin prison - one of the most brutal prisons in the world.  While incarcerated, Marzi endured months of mental and physical hardships, including intense interrogation. She was sentenced to death by hanging simply for being a Christian. Finally, under pressure from human rights and Christian organizations, the Iranian government released Marzi, and she emigrated to the United States where she became an American citizen. Marzi moved to Atlanta and enrolled at Georgia Tech University where she later earned her a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in International Affairs.  Marzi is a published author, public speaker, activist for religious freedom, and a candidate for Georgia House District 67.

Goal 60 donors
Blood Drive Testimony-Jan 31 Blood Drive

"My experience as a volunteer at the check-in desk on Blood Drive Day has been very positive. It is a pleasure to work with Darrell & Hal and all of the donors who stop by to give the gift of life!

When asked what we need to increase participation, I responded:

1. Need more engagement from the club. We need persuasive asks to get people more involved. (Hopefully, these testimonials are helping here.)

2. Need to have measurable and attainable goals regarding donors from the American Red Cross and from Rotary. Holding people accountable can push meet and increase goals. (Note the goal chart of 60 pints, and the progress we have made of 35 signups so far.)

Overall, the experience has affected me so positively. It is a sense of duty and honor to be able to volunteer and help our community needs. Even though I have not been able to donate due to travel and medicine restrictions, I feel committed to the cause and will participate as much as possible".

-Gabriel Prado

Join Gabriel and all of our donors and volunteers on Jan. 31! Use link below to sign up.

We are hoping for 60 donors on Jan. 31. To date we have 35 donors registered. Please sign up today or encourage a friend, neighbor or relative to give. We need 25 more to make our goal. 60 pints could save 180 lives!

And a chance to win Super Bowl tickets!

Most can't give, so ask a friend or colleague to donate
