Dan Salter, HIDTA Director, to Speak
Daniel Salter has served for 37 years in federal law enforcement, combating the drug epidemic in our country and around the world. From 1987 until his retirement in 2018, he served as a Special Agent in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in field agent, supervisory, and executive leadership roles across the United States and South America. A second-generation public servant, he followed in his father’s footsteps as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of both the Dallas Field Division, and the Atlanta Field Division. Following his retirement from federal service in 2018, Dan was selected to serve as the Executive Director of the Atlanta-Carolinas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (AC – HIDTA), a program under the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) that coordinates interagency task force operations between over 150 federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies across the states of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. In this role, Director Salter leads the AC – HIDTA executive board comprised of county sheriffs, chiefs of police, and agency directors in the collaborative efforts to disrupt and dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) and Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs). Salter, a Roswell High School graduate, has been married to his college sweetheart Elizabeth for 40 years, and has three grown children.
