President Nancy's Message

**An Action-Packed Presentation by Stuntwoman Sophia Crawford**

Last week, we had the exciting opportunity to hear from Sophia Crawford, a pioneering female stuntwoman whose career spans decades of thrilling performances. Best known for her role as Buffy’s stunt double in *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, and the pink power ranger,  Sophia shared her journey through the high-risk world of stunts. From fight choreography to death-defying falls, she gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the intense physical and mental preparation that goes into each performance. Her inspiring story highlighted the importance of perseverance, breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry, and pursuing your passion no matter the obstacles.

**A Remarkable Performance by Youngsuh Noh**

At our upcoming meeting, we are privileged to welcome Youngsuh Noh, a talented pianist who has mastered his craft despite significant challenges. Youngsuh, who lives with Stargardt's disease, has only about 5% of his vision. Yet, his passion for music remains undeterred. Using a VR headset to read sheet music and committing each piece to memory, he transforms adversity into artistry. His resilience and determination resonate in every note he plays. Join us in experiencing the inspiring story and extraordinary talent of Youngsuh Noh, a true example of overcoming obstacles through dedication.

Thursday Oct. 3rd- It's All About Our Youth!

Welcome Welcome Welcome to all who come to the Roswell Rotary meeting this Thursday for lunch.  We will not only be hosting 13 of our 16 Interact Clubs but also the City of Roswell Youth Ambassadors for the Youth Day Parade on Saturday, Oct 3rd.  This meeting is always inspiring and gives us the very face of hope on our stage.

We will hear Service Plans for the Interact Clubs from Blessed Trinity, Centennial High School, Crabapple Middle, Elkins Pointe Middle, Mimosa Elementary, Mountain Park Elementary, Queen of Angels, Roswell High School, Roswell North Elementary, The Cottage School (HS & MS) and Vickery Mill Elementary.

INVITATION:  Please make yourself part of the RRC hospitality team!  We will not only have Interact Students and Youth Ambassadors, but also their teachers, principals, and parents!  We will have Mayor Wilson as well as numerous other city administrators and council.  We will need for you to offer to help escort folks through the food line, find a spot to sit, etc.

REMINDER:  We will have the tables across the front labeled (reserved) for each Interact Club as well as a table for the Youth Ambassadors.

Multi-Generational Fishing Derby

Youth Services is excited to announce a new event: A Multi-Generational Team Fishing Derby.  Craig Fuller with Roswell Area Parks & Recreation has challenged Roswell Rotarians to launch our first derby!  Once checked in, each team will make their own Bamboo Fishing Rod and proceed to the lake!  Adults get a “coupon” for a free Gate City beer and Blessed Family cocktail.  Youth will get a Junior Tackle Box and their bamboo fishing rod.  There will also be an opportunity to earn tickets while fishing which can be spent at the Tackle Shop, where participants can trade tickets for fishing line, bobbers, weights, a pen knife or tweezers, hooks, etc.

Important Information:

  • Catch & Release
  • No Fishing License Required
  • What you may catch in the pond:  Bass, Brim, Catfish, turtles, litter, etc.

Where: Between the Visual Arts Building and the Lake on the Roswell Area Park Campus
Sign-Up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F49ADAC29ABFAC43-51349028-multi
Fishing Teams: Ideally, a fishing team will have at least 3 members from at least 2 generations… parent-age/child, grandparent-age/child & child, etc.  However, if you want to participate without a team, please sign up!  There will be youth who need adults and adults who need youth for their teams.  RRC, Jim Savage will break the ice and form teams.
Volunteer: In addition to the Derby's amazing committee made up of Priya Crumpton, Becky Nelson, Jim Savage, Mary Trapp, and Craig Fuller - 2 additional amazing committee members are needed.
Jim is looking for 5 strikingly adept volunteers to help in the Bamboo Rod-making area.
